Un’estate italiana, which translates to An Italian Summer, was written for the 1990 World Cup by two enormously talented Italian artists, built on a composition by the legendary electronic music pioneer Giorgio Moroder. The original track, titled To Be Number One, was written in English but never quite landed the way Moroder had envisioned.
